Broken Dove by Kristen Ashley

IF there was ever an author that I love more than Julie Garwood it would have to be Kristen Ashley (KA). To date, she has never let me down with any of her books. Yes some have anti-heros and not the quintessential Prince Charming, but her books - honey they are everything.

The same can be said for her most current release Broken Dove. This book gave me LIFE and was everything I wanted it to be. It is a part of her Fantasyland series and it is strongly advisable that you have read the other books in the series first.

KA has such a way with description, dialogue and action that you could translate her books into a movie and they would be a hit. In fact, I wish her books would be optioned for shows on a nudity friendly network. :wink wink: Broken Dove is the story of Ilsa and Apollo. I was introduced to Apollo in a previous book and have been chomping at the bit ever since. After much begging and pestering on KA's Facebook page I heard this was being released this year. Huzzah! (inside joke).

This book was epic. In the previous books you get the idea that something big is brewing in this world. Let me back up by saying the Fantasyland series is based on the concept of parallel universes. In one is our world and the other is kind of a medieval world. And in this alternate universe everyone has a twin whether they are good or evil is unknown. There are situations where a twin is evil and the other good, and there are situations where both twins are good. The premise is that Apollo from the medieval universe pays the witch Valentine to bring the Ilsa of our universe over to his. In Apollo's world he was married to Ilsa's twin and the same for Ilsa, but his twin goes by the name Pol. Even though Ilsa's twin is also good Apollo's twin is not. I don't want to go into too much detail, but this book is not simply Ilsa trying to fit in to this new life in the parallel universe. There is intrigue, back-stabbing, murder plots, magic, Ilsa and Apollo both dealing with their emotional baggage and most importantly the love story of Apollo and Ilsa.

The love scenes are mind-blowing, the action is A+ and the development of the two main characters is stellar. All in all, a great read from a phenomenal author.

And for your gif'ing pleasure

I was so excited for Lahn/Circe to make an appearance because their story is my ultimate fav.

Because Lahn is THE END ALL

But I digress. The chemistry between Apollo and Maddie when they finally let go....

And let's not forget when Apollo and Madeline did their 'exploring' sessions. :screams:

Somebody liked gettin their ass smacked....

Apollo was so erotic and delicious

And their kisses were molten

And yes Buttercup, the same can be said for Madeleine and Apollo

And finally...

Until November (Until #1 Series) by Aurora Rose Reynolds

I wasn’t familiar with this author, but based on the power of suggestion through Goodreads I decided to pick this title up and boy am I glad that I did.

Initially, I wasn’t sure how I felt about November. I like characters with unique names, unique not ridiculous, and I appreciated the names of the two main characters. I loved November’s quirkiness. Whether it was her having one-sided conversations with Beast or mumbling things under her breath. She was so adorable and fresh. Her childhood and adulthood, so far, was no picnic, but she still maintained an excitement and zest for life. I could see why Asher would fall so hard and quickly for her.

Asher Mayson…. Now this is one man that lives up to the sexiness of his name. And the author just had to add in the three brothers.

Sexiness and instant orgasm equals Cash, Trevor and Nico. There’s something about tall, tattooed, Alpha men. Throw in a good dose of possessive tendencies and intensity and you have a winner. And can I say I want to experience this “Asher fog” because it sounds AWESOME. :sighs:
I kinda felt as if the purpose of her moving to Tennessee takes a backseat to Asher/November’s developing relationship, but I am okay with that. I know I cannot wait to read more about the Mayson family.

Cage (Corp's Security #2) by Harper Sloan

Synopsis:

**Warning** This book is intended for a mature reading**

"Alpha heroes you'll want to kidnap and keep, heroines to root for, and sizzling love scenes with emotional punch."
Carly Phillips, NY Times Bestselling Author

Greg Cage was born to protect. While growing up, he was his mother and sister’s shield against the world… until he failed. For the last decade, he has carried that guilt and need for vengeance around… until it was
stripped from him. Now, with his best friend getting married and no longer needing his protection, he is even more lost, completely adrift, and
desperate for some control. All he has ever known was how to protect: his family, his friends, and his country. Can he go against everything he has ever known, and give up that control?

Melissa Larson will never let anyone hold the reins in her life. She has
been the rock in her family for more years than she can remember, and
the fight to keep them together is her main priority right now. She has
always been fiercely independent and proud. The last thing she will ever do is ask for someone else’s help. But when that choice is out of her
control, forcing her to rely on others to save her and her family, and pick up the pieces that are left, will she be able to let someone else be her
 strength?

The second Greg locks eyes with Meli, he knows that she is someone he needs. Someone he craves. Meli knew the second she met Greg that he would be nothing but trouble and heartache. Her life takes an
unexpected turn, and that bitch Fate is back to wreak more
havoc on another member of the Corps family.

All hell breaks loose, leaving Greg no choice but to call in a favor. He
hooks back up with his old friend Braxxon Breaker from the Breakneck MC. Together, they make sure that nothing threatens anyone Greg loves
again.

CAGE is a complete story with a HEA.

I feel so honored and jazzed to have been chosen to read and review an
ARC of Cage by Harper Sloan thru Twinsie Talk Book Tours.
If you are not familiar with Corps Security books you’re going to NEED to stop right here and go back to read book 1, Axel. Now after reading Axel I
think I can honestly say everyone, who is a fan that is, was anticipating
Cage’s story. I knew from Book 1 that Cage had a close connection to Izzy
because she reminded him of his sister, but we didn’t know the full story behind it.

The first thing that you need to understand is the piercing that Greg Cage
has. Please Google Apadravya, Reverse PA and Pubic piercings.  (Male Genital Piercings) Cage is tatted up and pierced up. :sighs: Moving on….

I will attempt to step through my Cage experience as best as possible without setting off a SPOILER alert.

First warning: It did not take 5 pages for me to be exposed to Cage’s sexy
world. No ma’am. Headboard banging and wrists held behind her back.
Are you kidding me? Cage is already sounding delicious. My preconceived
notions about Cage on ‘brother status’, instituted from Book 1, have
promptly exited stage right.
And now that the reader has been informed that Greg Cage is a sex machine
you are prepared for his introduction and behavior to Melissa.
 I loved the Melissa character.
She didn’t take sh*t from Cage and she seemed to always know what she
wanted. She didn’t let him run the show from Jump Street – he had to ‘earn’ the privilege of dominating her sexually. Personally, I enjoyed the
similarities between Cage and Melissa. The unnatural deaths of their sisters,
along with the instant sex connection, are the glue that holds the two
together. Besides Cage being so protective and dominant the best part of
him is his ability to love and open himself to the possibility of it. This is the first book I have read where the hero is ready for that white picket
fence fantasy. (The song Ready for Love by India Arie comes to mind)

Besides the sister connection they have & there is so much right there –
there is also the issue of a crazy ex named Mandy. She is one crazy broad and I will leave it at that. There is also the relationship between Melissa’s
nephew Cohen and Cage. If you don’t want to sigh and aahh endlessly do
not read this book. Greg Cage is the PERFECT man. Who can live up to
his perfection? The last thing I’ll mention is the mini crossover of characters between Harper Sloan and fellow Independent author Crystal Spears
(author of the Breakneck series). I read both authors so I was all for this
collaboration. I won’t spoil it, but suffice to say this book was AMAZING
and Harper Sloan writes some mind-blowing heat stroke inducing fiction.

And because I want to - I'll explain my Cage experience with gifs...

So at the first mention of piercings and the hotness that is Cage. I was literally melting

The fact that Melissa was trying to act like she didn't want him killed me, but I understood why. From the moment the two were introduced I began to plot her downfall.

Melissa and Cage at the club

Eye f$%kin' ensues

And that's where we are introduced to "that crazy b____" Mandy (a previous character)

My prayers are answered & Cage and Melissa finally become intimate.

 NC-17 warning SO DELICIOUS

Any who! And because we need some more drama Mandy shows up and it is ON..

Ratchet hour aside we get introduced to Cohen. His and Cage's relationship is so freaking cute.
And because what would the plot be without someone running their mouths and spilling the beans. Jeez Mandy, get a clue.

Until finally, fast forward (don't want to ruin it for you, but I'll just say BREAKNECK)

Taunting Destiny (Fae Chronicles #2) by Amelia Hutchins

It has taken me a couple of days to read this book; not because it was a difficult read but because it was so awesome. I wanted to savor this sequel and I knew it would be over too soon. If you haven’t read Fighting Destiny you need to stop this review and read part one of the Fae Chronicles. I am just as happy as a pig in sh*t that I discovered this author. On one hand I want her to go mainstream and pick up a huge publisher, but then I KNOW the books will slow down. NO! I am not in favor of that. Independent publishing means AH get’s all of the proceeds and she deserves it.

Moving on….

The Fae Chronicles is a heavily sexualized and violent action story. Synthia is amazing. She is strong and opinionated. The perfect yang to Ryder’s yin. Ryder is one word: devastation. He is everything dominant and the King of Alpha. He wets panties with one phrase. :sighs:
This book picks up where FD left off. Syn is bonded, and I use that word loosely, to Ryder until she completes her Fairy Transition. Besides her Transition, Syn is trying to solve the mystery of her guardian’s murder and at the same time figure out what is going on in the Guild. Note: You need to have read part 1 to know what I am referring to.

There are so many characters in this book that I want to have their own stories told. Even if it’s not separate, but a sideline plot I still want in. Ristan, Ryder’s Demon bestie, definitely deserves his own story to be told. This is definitely a new favorite of mine and Amelia Hutchins is officially on my auto-buy list.

And because expressing myself thru gif's has become a hobby of mine. Here I go....;)

Whenever Ryder comes on the scene

Oh my dear Syn, whenever you try and break from Ryder its like

When the marriage contract between her and A____ was suggested

Whenever Ryder and Synthia are in the same room together their chemistry is explosive

And their sex game can send you into overload

And when I got to that last dreaded page

To sum it up

Axel (Corps Security #1) by Harper Sloan

A love so overwhelming and powerful that years later it still haunts you....That is the background for this book. I was introduced to this author at the same time that I discovered Crystal Spears (my review of Seize Me ). Izzy is so deserving of love and there's this mountain of anticipation when she and Axel are reunited. I know I wanted all of the secrets Izzy had to just come spilling out. In this book you are also introduced to Corps Security. Wowza! All of the men in that agency sound heartbreaking sexy especially Izzy's brother from another mother" Greg Cage. I know we, as readers, can expect naughty delicious things from Greg.

Let me just say that everything I wanted to happen - happened in this book. It may not have happened on my 'give it to me now' time frame, but I was suitably rewarded. Izzy and Axel burn up the sheets. Izzy has been carrying around so many demons and is damaged in such a way that, in my opinion, the only one to fix her is Axel. Her first love, Axel and his monster truck. Harper Sloan pulled me into this world so effectively I feel like I know all of the characters, as if they work right next to me. I don't want to go into too much detail for fear I'll just SPOILER the HELL out of this review, but when I say Axel is one dirty talking Alpha male I am oh so serious. I absolutely have to resort to Scandal GIFs to explain my experience with this book.

Its like at first Izzy was trying to deny the chemistry still existed...

And then Axel started his seduction
Until finally, Axel went and got his woman.

And no holds barred....

And then there was more of...

Until finally I was literally in the bed screaming like a loon.

And then I hit the last page and...

Seize Me by Crystal Spears (Breakneck series)

I found this author thru either Facebook or my sporadic Amazon.com book search. As I read the synopsis my eyes were glued to the words MC (Motorcycle Club). I should preface this review by saying I've been on a MC book kick, which was jump started by Kristen Ashley. So far I've dipped into Joanna Wylde and Madeline Sheehan. Moving on....

I picked the book up on a Wednesday and 5 hours later I was done. :Sighs: I want to say that first of all don't go into this book thinking ANYONE or ANYTHING is safe or sacred. People die. Drugs are in the forefront and the sex is OH SO delicious. I was glad to discover that Winter's crime family connections are not the main plot device. Initially, I already had the story laid out in my head, but was happy to realize early on that I could throw those ideas out of the window. C.Spears had me changing positions in my bed every hour I was so invested in this book. Hell, let's be real, I was invested three pages in. Winter and Lana are characters who put you in mind of someone you know. Their desire to be their own masters and to live their lives beholden to no one was great. I knew I could expect jaw dropping things from these ladies. And I wasn't disappointed.

The minute Pyro and Braxxon come on the scene turn your fan [a/c] on because you're gonna need it. Braxxon and Pyro are some hot specimens.

I also think its important to mention that this book did not remind me of any other previously read MC books. The Breakneck series stands on its own. Though, there were parts I wish did not happen I was glad when the author made me uncomfortable. Not everything should be safe and HEA because that's not the way the world [and life] works. Important people die and romanticizing Motorcycle club life is not the way this book works. Drugs, murder, violence, money, friendship, family, steamy sex, greed, jealousy, revenge - this book has it all.
