Wildfire (Hidden Legacy, #3) by Ilona Andrews

Wildfire (Hidden Legacy, #3)Wildfire by Ilona Andrews
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am in love. I just decided to dip into the Hidden Legacy series not 5 days ago. I finished book 2 on Sunday and I was dying for more.

In all of Ilona Andrews's books you can tell that SO MUCH research, time and patience went into every single page.

I actually felt like a gunsmith (if not just her husband's prior military knowledge) was consulted for the armory in this book.

Honestly, every single thing about this book is great. The characters. The action. The sex. The familial relationships. Everything reads so realistic and believable. In my mind's eye I can see mages fighting in the streets guerilla style.

It goes without saying that you need to have read the previous books to know what is going on. We know Nevada's days of hiding her and her families powers are at an end. Her paternal grandmother is 'after' her and to compound it her ex's childhood sweetheart shows up at her office asking for help.

Its just...too...good.

I have no idea if this is the end, but I hope not. I hope it either continues in this series or segue ways into another. Either way...

ARC : Spellbinder (Moonshadow #2) by Thea Harrison

Blurb:

Kidnapped while on tour, musician Sidonie Martel is transported to the mystical land of Avalon. A human without magical ability, she is completely vulnerable to the deadly forces surrounding her.

When she defies her captors and refuses to share her music, an act of violent cruelty leaves her broken, her ability to play silenced, maybe forever. Her only hope is a whisper in the dark, gentle hands that offer healing, and a man who refuses to show her his face yet who offers advice she dare not ignore.

One of the most feared and powerful sorcerers in history, Morgan le Fae serves a Queen he despises, Isabeau of the Light Court. Once a famous bard and an advisor to kings, Morgan has been enslaved to Isabeau for hundreds of years, acting as enforcer and the commander of her deadly Hounds.

Sidonie’s music touches Morgan in places he had abandoned centuries ago, and her fiery spirit resurrects feelings he had believed long dead. For Sidonie, trapped in captivity, passion offers a comfort she cannot resist.

But Isabeau holds Morgan bound in magical chains that only Death can break. And in the court of a cruel, jealous Queen, the only thing that burns hotter than love is revenge…

 REVIEW

Note: Thanks to the author for providing this ARC for an honest review.

Morgan...
The character we were built up to hate.
I remember his character from Pia takes Hollywood as the culprit behind the Fae zombie outbreak. And then in the first Moonshadow book we see he's not a complete a-hole.

SIDE EYE

In this book, we're introduced to Sid an amazingly talented violinist that catches the musical eye of Morgan. Bad move. There are so many people after him they are just itching for a way to take him down. Especially Puck aka Robin.

<spoiler>
From book one we know that Morgan was the one to capture Puck, by Isabeau's order, and as such he bears a huge grudge against him. But as not as much as he does for Isabeau.

To make a long story short,

Puck wants revenge. And he is going to use Sid to get it.

 Train wreck. Commence.

Sid and Morgan fall into - something and before we know it the two are in it to win it.

Sid wants Morgan's freedom just as much as she wants her own. Cue edge of your seat tension. We discover who and what is holding Morgan hostage and we already know who is holding Sid hostage. What we don't know is how to free both of them. Talk about biting your nails pulling your hair out tension. I honestly could barely read fast enough I was so invested in their freedom and getting Isabeau and Modred their comeuppance. The story itself was not predictable and I liked the fact that there weren't characters from previous series books. This book was all about Sid and Morgan. Though, there was a short scene with Cuelebre at the end.

I completely enjoyed this book and am enjoying this new Moonshadow series. I cannot wait to read more.

Evander Lennox doesn’t do anything he doesn’t want to do. At least, that is, until he’s sent to prison. The four years he’s incarcerated, he’s had no choice but to do the things that he’s asked to do, when he’s asked to do them. And now, if he doesn’t, it will mean a one-way ticket straight back to hell. Once he’s free, it takes him twenty-four hours to get his old job back, his dog at home where he belongs, and an understanding that people aren’t as forgiving as he once thought them to be. He’s just about given up hope of ever integrating back into society when a woman slams into his heart, literally and figuratively. *** Kennedy Swallow just wants to belong somewhere. When she was younger, her parents divorced, and chose to separate her from her twin. Fast forward fifteen years, and she’s finally getting to meet the family she’s always wanted to be a part of. To make that happen, she uproots her life and moves to the tiny town of Hostel, Texas—giving her almost everything she’s ever wanted. Just when she thinks she’s making progress in winning her family over, she finds out that her twin is ill, and the only reason her family tolerates her is due to the convenience of having a free caretaker whenever they might be in need of one. After a few eye-opening experiences, she quickly realizes that she’s being used. Vowing to herself that she’ll make the best of the situation, she begins to steel her heart. What she doesn’t prepare for is a man named Evander who sees that barrier as a challenge. *** It takes Evander all of ten seconds while watching the woman on the floor, bleeding from her jaw, to realize that maybe life isn’t as bad as it could be. This woman with her thrill for life, a crazy obsession with chickens, and a desire to be wanted, changes everything he thinks he knows. But it doesn’t take long for him to realize that just by being around her, the people of the town have judged her guilty by association. Her business suffers, and soon after, she realizes what it will mean to have him by her side—the loss of everything she’s worked so hard for. Kennedy knows that Evander is worth it. Evander, however, decides that he’s not letting another person get hurt because he was stupid enough to care.
