ARC Charlie Foxtrot (CODE 11 KPD SWAT SERIES BOOK 5) by Lani Lynn Vale

BLURB

Foster made a promise in his hospital bed when his leg was taken from him that he’d get back to one hundred percent. Leg or no leg, he’d get back on the SWAT team if it killed him.
And he does get back. But he has a problem.

He can’t let go of the past.

The anger burns deep, making his emotions volatile at the best of times.

Then he meets Blake with her haughty attitude and inability to distinguish the difference between a pocket knife and a sword.

Little by little, she makes him whole again, one bad joke at a time.

She doesn’t see the revenge in his eyes, though. Doesn’t see the rage burning deep.

Rage so pure and all encompassing, that he knows it’ll explode.

It’s just a matter of time.

What Foster doesn’t realize, though, is that the love that Blake has for him is enough to fight his demons, one kiss at a time.

Foster never stood a chance.

I’m sure by now everyone knows how much I love Lani Lynn Vale (LVV). I have yet to read a book of hers that I did not like. There are a few that I wasn’t 100% in love with, but for the most part LVV can do no wrong. I love her heroes. I love her heroines. I love their journey to each other, which most often includes an amazing dose of humor, hot sex, sadness and finally happiness when it all seems to come together.

Note : You do need to be familiar with the previous books in the series to follow along with this book.

So we all know that Foster lost his leg in the previous book “Execution Style” and I for one was eager to see how his carefree character would transform into Crush (his new nickname) & who he would attract. Cue Blake. She is the new station dispatcher and her first run in with Foster leaves him on the ground – literally.

Whenever it’s time to read a LVV new release I have to wonder how she is going to wow me this time. She always has fresh ideas and doesn’t let her books become predictable. I think the best thing about her books, which keeps me coming back, is that she makes her female characters so personable and humorous. I can see myself being best friends with these women and the men….wowsa. They are all drool worthy in their own way and their personalities are all unique – besides all of them being sexy and covered in tattoos. Another thing that keeps me coming back is the epilogue. In my opinion, LVV writes some of the best epilogues in the writing world. She satisfies my nosy need to know how each character mentioned ends up at the end of the book.

Without ruining the story, I think this is my favorite so far in the CODE 11 SWAT series. Blake’s grandfather is an absolute riot (that pocket knife switchblade), Foster’s mom Sloan is priceless and Blake herself is amazing.

Definitely worth reading over and over.

Definitely worth buying in print.
