Mess Me Up (Bear Bottom Guardians MC, #1) by Lani Lynn Vale

Mess Me Up (Bear Bottom Guardians MC, #1)Mess Me Up by Lani Lynn Vale
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I haven't been choked up like this since Susan Fanetti's Leave a Trail

I was invested from the first letter between these two pen pals. I know there isn't a trigger warning on this book, but I'm putting one. If you're triggered by cancer or sex trafficking - be warned.

Izzy and Rome are like a train wreck that you can't help watching. They both of them are each damaged, from parents down to former love interests, and putting them together -- many would think its a bad idea. However, I loved how much of a fighter Izzy was. She would not let Rome stop living even though he had reason to want to withdraw from life. I couldn't wait to see how the two would heal each other. Shitty families and scummy public officials aside their story is great.

When you’re born you never know what life will throw at you. You just make the best of it no matter what happens. That’s pretty much been my go-to since infancy. Then the charming, bald headed, blue eyed, Brent came along and I thought all the suck in life had been flushed down the drain. Ha! That’s when my true journey began—motherhood.
This is my story, on how I took life by the go-nads when I decided I needed closure from my past—my father’s sudden death in particular. But what happens next wasn't anything I expected… It’s hopeless… shattering….exciting … scary…joyful…priceless… and I owe it all to one man... Bear, a chapter president of the Sacred Sinners Motorcycle Club.
Warning: Contains adult sexual content, the excessive use of the F-word, cheating, and whatever else that makes it unsuitable for anyone under the age of 18.
1st Novel in a Duology - that could also be read as a possible standalone.

I knew pregnancy was involved and I knew bikers were involved. I also knew, of course, that this was a Bink Cummings book so I was guaranteed a no nonsense main female character. What I was given was Kat. She wasn’t hard core aggressive, but when push came to shove [and there was some pushing] she was there to stand up for herself.
Side note: It isn’t necessary for you to have read the MC Chronicles books, but if you had you’d know a tad bit more about some of the characters mentioned.
This book….

I just – I just don’t know how I feel about Brent and Kat. What I do know is that Brent is a P.O.S and Kat needs to put a padlock on her cooch.

I’d love to go into detail on what a douche bucket Brent is and how he can jump off of a cliff onto some rocks, but that would ruin the book. I will say that I love that I don’t love (who I assume to be) the main male character. I like a wrench to be thrown into the mix and this book gives it me. I am in serious dislike with pretty much 90% of every male in Kat's life.  There isn’t one example of a reliable, true person in this series [so far]. Everyone has their own priorities and family is NOT number one or in some cases not even number three.  I cannot wait to read part two to see where this story is going. We’re introduced to some memorable characters and I definitely want to see the parts that they play in Kat's life. I have opinions and theories on everyone and I cannot wait to see which ones were correct.

If you like HEA books that are wrapped up in a bow this is not for you. There is anger, sorrow, love, lust, and hopelessness and this is only book one. There may be a HEA, but not yet.

I know there will be lots of drama, lots of anger and lots of sex :) And I can't wait.

Hammer's Fall by Laurie Roma

Hammer's FallHammer's Fall by Laurie Roma
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Tatted up and delicious is all you need to know.

Jared Jared Jared

LR pulled me in from the start. The way Jared described his obsession [interest] with Kalista I was team get her into bed asap Jared. The entire atmosphere of Breakers, TX seems like an amazing place to live. Not to mention every business there seems like an awesome place to hang out and scope man candy especially the Fight Hard gym. I liked the fact that the gym was a gym downstairs and a rehabilitation clinic upstairs. Serving those that served for us in the military was a nice touch.
LR also did a wonderful job laying the groundwork for future Breakers Bad Boy series i.e. introducing the reader to Jared's military friends and Kalista's female friends. I can't wait.

And those love scenes. Jared and Kali burn the pages up.
The two of them together are smoking.

The stairwell scene.

The conference room scene at the wedding. Nuff said.

Great read!

Reaper's Property by Joanna Wylde

Joanna Wylde Reaper’s Property

Marie doesn’t need a complication like Horse. The massive, tattooed, badass biker who shows up at her brother’s house one afternoon doesn’t agree. He wants Marie on his bike and in his bed. Now.
But Marie just left her abusive jerk of an ex-husband and she’s not looking for a new man. Especially one like Horse—she doesn’t know his real name or where he lives, she’s ninety percent certain he’s a criminal and that the “business” he talks with her brother isn’t website design. She needs him out of her life, which would be a snap if he’d just stop giving her mind-blowing orgasms.
Horse is part of the Reapers Motorcycle Club, and when he wants something, he takes it. What he wants is Marie, but she’s not interested in becoming “property of”.
Then her brother steals from the club. Marie can save him by giving Horse what he wants—at home, in public, on his bike… If she’s a very, very good girl, she’ll get lots more of those orgasms only he can offer, and he’ll let her brother live.
Maybe.

In the midst of having a conversation about Alpha males and which authors wrote good ones, this book was suggested. I’ve read Joanna Wylde in the past and enjoyed her so I bit the bullet and grabbed a copy. Let me just say that Horse is mind-blowing. JW’s foray into biker territory reminded me of Kristen Ashley and the more I read the more I made comparisons. What I found refreshing in KA’s writing held true for JW’s. The male character was not some sex god who always said the right things at the right time. Horse was an abrasive a-hole and wasn’t sorry about it. He had no plans to change and if Marie accepted him that’s what she was going to get. After reading KA and JW I’ve realized that I’ve been spoiled with male characters that would never dream of calling women out of their name and wouldn’t dare do the things Horse did in this book.

At many points of the book I found myself shaking my head and cussing out the characters in the book. The sign of a book. Before I start raving about this book I will say that the one thing about this book that did irritate me was the time jumping. To better explain the position Horse and Marie currently found themselves in the author did a series of time jumps. These time jumps explained Horse/Marie’s previous interactions and the history of how they met. At the point where I found myself saying ‘if I jump one more time’ everything had been explained. Moving on to the book….

If you like contemporary erotic romance this is the book for you. If you like no nonsense coarse bikers then Horse is the man for you. By no means is Horse a knight galloping in to rescue Marie from a life of abuse and minimum wage jobs. When Horse sees something he wants whether it’s a woman or an object he goes after it.

I was extremely impressed with the research that the author did inside the biker lifestyle. I always had the impression that they were a cloak and dagger organization, but Joanna Wylde explained a lot. Whether or not it’s true for all motorcycle clubs, only a member of that lifestyle would know. I loved the terminology and when Horse explained the meaning behind a nickname he had given to Marie I was literally screaming in my chair.  There was no shortness of drama and excitement. Marie and Horse incinerated the pages they were so hot for each other. I was also happy to see the introduction of characters that could possibly have their own stories told. All in all I did love this book and will continue to read this series.
